Welsford Volunteer Fire Department
On July 23, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Grand Bay-Westfield Fire-Rescue Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 100-block of Woolastook Drive. When Firefighters arrived on scene, they found heavy fire in one room of the home. Firefighters were able to contain fire damage to the one room, however, the remainder of the home sustained smoke and water damage.Crews were on scene for approximately three (3) hours.One person was home at the time of the fire who was able to evacuate safely. All residents are staying with family. One Firefighter was treated on scene by Ambulance NB for heat-related illness. The Firefighter was later able to resume firefighting duties.The investigation is ongoing, however, the fire is not considered suspicious at this time. The Grand Bay-Westfield Fire-Rescue Department would like to extend appreciation to Welsford Volunteer Fire Department for their mutual aid assistance, Royal Canadian Mounted Police in New Brunswick, and Ambulance New Brunswick. ...
